MIAC Release
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University's
Travis Adams (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last Saturday against St. Thomas at the Metrodome.
Adams became just the second pitcher to throw a complete game shutout against St. Thomas in the last three seasons as the Bethel Royals upset the #17 Tommies 1-0 in the first game of the conference season-opening doubleheader. The lefthander allowed just five hits while striking out four batters and walking none. Adams stranded five Tommie runners in scoring position, including runners on second and third base with no outs to start the fifth inning. The win over St. Thomas is the first for Bethel since the 2006 season, and is the first shutout of the Tommies in more than 10 years.
The Royals are scheduled to continue their season with a single, nine-inning game at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minn., on Tuesday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
