Tim Madson Named to Academic All-District Five First Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind.
- Bethel University starting guard Tim Madson (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) has been named to the 2008-09 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team for men's basketball, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is the lone Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) representative on either the first or second team.

Madson is currently one of the top three overall scorers in the MIAC, averaging more than 18 points per game, and is the top free throw shooter in conference play, making better than 91 percent of his shots. He has earned All-MIAC recognition twice and has also been named the MIAC Preseason Player of the Year two years in a row by the College Sporting News. At the moment, Madson ranks fifth all-time at Bethel in scoring with 1,624 career points.





To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
