MINNEAPOLIS - The Bethel University men's indoor track and field team participated in the Snowshoe Open tonight, hosted by the University of Minnesota at their Fieldhouse. The Royals got to see how they stack up against athletes from both the NCAA Division I and II levels, as well as many from Division III.

One of the top performances of the day went to Bethel's 4 x 400 meter relay team. Although they finished sixth overall, the team came within .26 seconds of matching the school record, set last year, with a time of 3:21.91.

Taylor Ferda (Jr., Whitefish, Mont.) held his own in the finals heat of the 60m hurdles, made up almost exclusively with University of Minnesota hurdlers. He finished third overall with a time of 8.25 seconds, just .05 seconds off the winning pace and .01 seconds out of second.

Josh Aakre (Fr., Dawson, Minn.) had a 42 ft, 2.75 in (12.87 m) leap in the triple jump to finish eighth and third among Division III athletes.

Jay Quick (So., Johnston, Iowa) and Eric Atherton (Jr., Roseville, Minn.) placed third and fourth in the high jump with leaps of 6 ft, 4.25 in (1.94 m).

Two-time NCAA All-American cross country runner Dan Greeno (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.) placed seventh overall in the 3k run with a time of 8:42.60.

Bethel's next scheduled competition is slated for next Friday for the Pre-Conference Meet, hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., beginning at 5 p.m.
