December 12, 2009
Paige Lemieux's goal against the Blazers was her third this season.
Box Score
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Facing St. Benedict for the second time, the Royals never backed down, beating the Blazers 1-0 and gaining their third MIAC win in their last four games. Similar to yesterday's game against St. Benedict at the Schwan's Super Rink, the Royals out-shot the Blazers. This time, the Royals could only get 29 shots to the Blazer's 10, but it was enough in the end. Paige Lemieux (So., Fargo, N.D.) scored Bethel's lone goal at 10:42 into the second period, with assists going to Hillary Hartwig (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) and Allison Papko (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba). It's the second time in the last two weeks that Lemieux has given the Royals a game-winning goal. In addition, today's win was goalie Jess Newstrom's (Fr., Cambridge, Minn.) first career shutout with 10 saves. Today's win over the Blazers pushes the Royals to 3-3 in the MIAC (3-7 overall). St. Benedict is now 0-4-2 in the MIAC (1-6-2 overall). Bethel's next game is scheduled for January 8, at 7 p.m. at UW-Eau Claire. |
