MIAC Release

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2009 MIAC Volleyball Awards today, November 4, 2009. Bethel University's Nicole Wriedt (So. Pewaukee, Wis.) was among the players to be named an All-MIAC athlete.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the fourth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for Volleyball. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. Hannah Parks (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) represents Bethel on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team.

Nicole Wriedt
Wriedt played in every single set for Bethel this season and led the Royals with 306 kills for an average of 2.83 kills per set. She also had one of the top two hitting percentages on the team and recorded the third most blocks. Wriedt had a season-high 20 kills against regionally ranked Illinois-Wesleyan, leading to 22.5 points in the five-set match late in the season. Wriedt was a team leader all season, but was instrumental during a stretch that saw Bethel win seven of their last nine matches, including five conference matches in a row. During those nine games, she averaged better than 13.5 points per game. This is Wriedt's first all-conference award.

Hannah Parks
Parks is Bethel's representative on the fourth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for her character on and off the court. Parks was a big help in the Royals' final four conference matches as she had a combined 12 kills and only three attack errors for a .290 hitting percentage. Her top performance of the season was against UW-Stout as she had nine points on five kills, two service aces, two solo blocks, and 16 digs in Bethel's 3-1 win.
