Men's Hockey Team Donates Time to Local Food Shelf

October 6, 2009

Emergency Food Shelf Network

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Several members of Bethel's men's hockey team donated their time and energy at the Emergency Food Shelf Network, located New Hope, Minn., on October 5.

Assistant Coach Ryan Adams was one of the coaches who, along with 15 players and the team manager, helped pack non-perishable food and produce into boxes, as well as put together some hygiene kits. "We had a great time and the guys worked really hard," said Adams. "I was proud of the time and effort they put in and I know we all thought it was a rewarding experience because we actually got to meet some of the people that we were helping."

Other tasks the team helped perform were moving a variety of things around the warehouse and doing some cleaning of the facilities. By the time they were done, they had packed enough food and supplies for nearly 1,800 people.

The Emergency Foodshelf Network seeks to provide high quality food and essential support services to hunger relief programs in the community. They do it by partnering with individuals and organizations in order to maximize the sharing of food, resources, and systems support; promote quality standards, as well as by educating and advocating for the eradication of hunger.
