ST. PAUL, Minn.
- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) is widely respected as one of the premier conferences in nearly every sport competed in Division III. Year after year, the MIAC produces teams and individual student-athletes who excel in their given sport. At the same time, the MIAC schools maintain a reputation of commitment to academic excellence. This article is one in a series of spotlights on some of the young men and women who represent the league's commitment to excellence, both in the classroom and athletics during the 2008-09 academic year.

"They say that “the Lord works in mysterious ways” and the roundabout way that brought Annegret Nautsch to Bethel University could be called a good example of that. Once at Bethel, Annegret developed into one of the finest basketball players in school history, earning All-Region and All-American honors.

Annegret did not make the varsity until her senior year of high school. She worked hard with her coaches from summer club ball and made the team but saw little playing time. As a result, she was not recruited by any colleges. Her high school coach did not think she would be able to play at the college level, and did little to promote her potential ..."
