Season Outlook:
Jim Timp returns for his twelfth year with the men’s team in 2008. Noticeably absent from the coaching staff this year is assistant coach Dave Borner. Taking over assistant duties this year is Emily Anderson, a recent graduate and cross country performer during her years at Bethel.

The 2008 cross country season looks to build upon the success they achieved last year. The men's team placed 6th in conference, led by All-Conference runners Dan Greeno (Jr., St. Michael, Minn. - pictured left) and Carl Gladitsch (Sr., Bloomer, Wis. - pictured below right) who both went on to become Bethel's very first All-American runners by virtue of placing in the top 35 at the national meet.

There is good depth and talent returning along with outstanding leadership. Gladitsch and Tyler Hinrichs (Sr., Clara City, Minn.) are co-captains for the year. Other runners that will be important team contributors this year include: men’s squad as well as Greeno, the top returning runner in the conference this Jordan Groh (Sr., Rockford, Ill.), Brian Anderson (Jr., Andover, Minn.), Austin Hinrichs (So., Clara City, Minn.) and Denny Meints (So., Pine Island, Minn.).
There are also a number of outstanding freshman on board to round out the team including Sam Greeno (St. Michael, Minn.), who is Dan’s brother, J.P. Cartier (Mora, Minn.) and Joel McDougall (Minneapolis) - all with high school state meet experience.
With this talent and depth, the men’s squad is seeking a top 3 finish at the MIAC, but more importantly, coach Timp wants to qualify runners for national meet competition.
