12 Shot Improvement Good for 7th Place Tie at Saint Johns Fall Invitational

SARTELL, Minn. - By cutting 12 strokes from their first day score, the Bethel men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place out of the 20 teams competing at the Saint Johns Fall Invitational. The Royals posted a first round 319 at the Par 72, 7,059-yard Greystone Golf Club in Sauk Centre, Minn., leaving them tied for ninth on Saturday. However, Sunday saw the Royals drop 12 strokes as a team at the Par 72, 6,992-yard Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in Sartell, Minn., helping them climb two places in the overall standings.

The Royals were led by Michael Yocum (Sr., Mora, Minn.) who finished the weekend six-over par at 150 (76-74), tied for 7th place out of the 110 participants. Mason Swenson (So., Eagan, Minn.) had another strong weekend as well as he dropped five strokes on his way to shooting a combined 155 (80-75), good for a six-way tie for 17th place. Toby Robinson (So., Mankato, Minn.) finished the weekend with a 2-day total of 159 (80-79) tied for 40th place, while Charlie Cook (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) made the biggest adjustment between days as he improved six strokes, shooting a combined 164 (85-79).

The Royals men will look to build upon their top-10 finish as they prepare for the upcoming St. Olaf Invitational set to take place September 26th and 27th at The Summit Golf Club in Cannon Falls, Minn. This will serve as their final preparation for the MIAC Championships the following weekend.
