PELLA, Iowa - Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium on the campus of Central College was the site of Bethel University's latest track and field meet. Despite windy conditions, several Royals finished high against some top tier competition.

Eric Rhode (Jr., Oakdale, Minn.) finished third in the 400 meter race behind two Division I runners from Northern Iowa with a time of 49.28 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.79 seconds, which was good for fourth place. Rhode then helped the 4 x 400 meter relay team to a third place finish with a time of 3:18.96. Other members of the 1600 meter relay team included Taylor Ferda (Jr., Whitefish, Mont.), Zach Schlegel (So., Woodbury, Minn.) and Joel Quick (Jr., Johnston, Iowa).

Tyler Hinrichs (Sr., Clara City, Minn.) finished in third place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.04, less than a second off the pace of the winning time. In the 1500 meter race, All-MIAC cross country runners Dan Greeno (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.) and Carl Gladitsch (Sr., Bloomer, Wis.) finished within fractions of a second of each other in second and third places, respectively, with times of 4:06.53, and 4:06.56.

Finally, Jay Quick (So., Johnston, Iowa) earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the high jump by clearing 2.03 meters (6 feet, 8 inches), which was good for a tie for second place. His leap was six inches higher than the next closest competitor.

The Royals are scheduled to return home before heading down to St. Peter, Minn., next Friday morning for the Lee Krough Invitational, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
