ST. PAUL, Minn.
- A week of beautiful weather all but disappeared on Saturday for the Macalester Invitational, but it didn't stop Bethel's women's track team from competing. The Royals had a number of contestants finish in the top five of their event, including first place finishes from Heather Jelen (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Vanessa Moore (Sr., Grantsburg, Wis.).

Jelen won the 800 meter run by just over half a second with a time of 2:15.71. Her time falls less than a second and a half short of an NCAA provisional time. As for Moore, she cleared 1.63 meters (5 feet, 4.25 inches) to land in first place in the high jump. Moore also finished second only to a Division I runner in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.80 seconds.

Another Bethel contestant to finish in second place was Amy Neubauer (So., Rogers, Minn.), who had a leap of 4.92 meters (16 feet, 1.75 inches) in the long jump. Neubauer also went on to finish seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.33 seconds. Kelly Frost (So., Bemidji, Minn.) was the runner up in the pole vault as she cleared 3.16 meters (10 feet, 4.25 inches), and Bethel's 4 x 400 meter relay team finished in second place with a time of 4:07.82, while the 4 x 100 meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 50.49 seconds.

Bethel's next scheduled competition is the MIAC Decathlon on Thursday, April 30, hosted by Carleton College beginning at 12:30 p.m.
