ST. PETER, Minn.
- Both the weather and the outdoor track and field season showed signs of heating up at the Lee Krough Invitational, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. With temperatures in the mid-50s, Good Friday turned out to be good indeed as the Royals earned three first place finishes at the prestigious event which featured student athletes from 20 different schools.

Carl Gladitsch (Sr., Bloomer, Wis.), a two-time All-MIAC cross country runner, won the 5000 meter race by more than two and a half seconds over teammate and fellow all-conference cross country runner, Dan Greeno (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.) with a time of 14:55.15. Greeno finished with a time of 14:57.98, making the pair the only two runners to finish under 15 minutes.
Jay Quick

Defending conference champion high jumper Jay Quick (So., Johnston, Iowa) improved upon his NCAA provisional leap of 2.03 meters from a week ago to clear 2.05 meters (6 feet, 8.75 inches). Quick's mark is among the top 10 jumps in the nation so far this season, and is the best among conference jumpers.

The Royals also earned a top finish in the 4 x 200 meter relays with a time of 1:29.87. Bethel's 4 x 400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 3:18.26.

Other notable finishes for Bethel athletes included a seventh place spot for pole vaulter Steve Vedders (Jr., Foreston, Minn.), as he cleared 4.15 meters (13 feet, 7.25 inches), and an eighth place finish for Tyler Hinrichs (Sr., Clara City, Minn.) in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.70.

The Royals are scheduled to head down to Northfield, Minn., on Saturday, April 18, for their next meet, which is the Carleton Relays beginning at 11 a.m.
