ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University's Lauren Habisch (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Player of the Week for her performances last week.

Habisch helped Bethel earn its first ever sweep of Saint Mary's, keeping Bethel in the top half of the conference standings. The Royals went 3-3 last week, which included games against #4 ranked St. Thomas, Saint Mary's, and UW-River Falls. Habisch hit safely in five of Bethel's six games, notching two or more hits in four of those games, raising her average 74 points during the course of the week. She had one of Bethel's two hits in the first game against St. Thomas on Tuesday, then proceeded to hit a perfect 3-for-3 against Saint Mary's in the first game of the doubleheader with two doubles and three RBIs in a 5-1 win on Wednesday. The next game, Habisch was 2-for-4 with another double and scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning in an 8-6 win over the Cardinals. On Thursday, she was a combined 4-for-7 against UW-River Falls, including her fourth double in as many games and her first home run of the season. She scored a run and batted in three of Bethel's four runs in a 4-1 win in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Habisch is tied for the team lead in hits and leads the team in extra base hits, RBIs, and total bases.

The Royals are scheduled to play St. Catherine, Gustavus Adolphus, Carleton, and Hamline this week.
