Box Score
MINNEAPOLIS -
Jay Slick (Fr., River Falls, Wis.) hit a solo home run for his first collegiate round-tripper in the fourth inning, but the Royals could not hold the lead and fell to the Dickinson State Blue Hawks 2-1 at the Metrodome this afternoon.
Travis Adams (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn.) started and went the distance on the hill for Bethel. The two runs he allowed in the bottom of the fifth inning were unearned. Adams gave up three hits and three walks, but also struck out three batters.
Bethel placed runners in scoring position in four innings, including the sixth and seventh, but the Royals were unable to push any runs across the plate to tie or take the lead.
In game two, Bethel overcame a 3-0 deficit to take a 7-3 lead, but the Blue Hawks came back to take a 10-7 lead when the game was ended because of time constraints. There is no plan in place to finish the game, which went 6 1/2 innings. NCAA rules require a baseball game to go seven innings, therefore negating the second game and the statistics.
The Royals will now turn their focus toward preparing for their spring break trip to Ft. Myers, Fla., where they are scheduled to play 12 games, as well as conclude their game with Central College that was also postponed due to time allowance.
