TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Marie Borner's bid to repeat as national champion in the indoor mile run fell short by less than a second, but she still earned NCAA All-American status with her second place finish at the national championship meet.

Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) finished the race with a time of 4:55.41 - nearly three seconds better than her time that earned her a national championship title in the same event a year ago in Ada, Ohio. Ayla Mitchell from UW-Oshkosh won the race with a time of 4:54.66.

Borner is now a five-time NCAA Division III All-American between cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field. The top seven finishers at the national meet earn All-American honors in track and field.
