ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University's
Autumn Beasley (Fr., Medina, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performances the week of Monday, February 2.
Beasley was a major factor in Bethel's 3-0 week as she was the Royals' top scorer in each of the three games, and the game's high scorer twice. The starting guard had 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting against St. Catherine in Bethel's 71-54 win last Monday. On Wednesday, Beasley scored a season high 26 points against Hamline as the Royals won 86-70. She was 7-for-13 from the field and 11-for-12 from the free throw line, aiding Bethel to its highest team point total of the season. Beasley then went on to help the Royals close out a perfect week by scoring 16 points in Bethel's 63-41 win over St. Olaf on 5-for-7 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 shooting from the free throw line. In addition to being the game's high scorer, she also had seven assists and a pair of steals. Beasley has been Bethel's top scorer in five of the team's last six games and is averaging 18.8 points per game in that span. Since becoming a starter, the Royals have gone 9-3 and she has risen to be the team's second leading scorer and top free throw shooter.
The Royals are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday evening when St. Thomas visits the Robertson Center gym. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
