Bethel Opens Season with Win Over Nebraska Christian

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Within six-and-a-half minutes of game time, the Bethel Royals had all they would need to secure a win over the visiting team from Nebraska Christian College. Bethel won by a score of 93-21 in the first game of the 2009-10 season and will now advance to the championship game of the Olive Garden Tip-Off Tournament.

JD Robinson (So., Plymouth, Minn.) led the Royals with 19 points by shooting 8-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the line. Greg Meyer (Fr., Brooklyn Center, Minn.) and Chris Breuer (Fr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) also posted double-digit point totals by registering 12 each. Kellan Dahlquist (So., St. Cloud, Minn.) led the team in rebounds with eight.

Nebraska Christian only had five players play, led by Jake Laughlin who had nine of the team's 21 points. Nathan Frew scored seven, while Derek Runcie scored five to round out the scoring for the visitors.

The 1-0 Royals will tip off against UW-Stout tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at the Robertson Center. The Blue Devils defeated the Waldorf College Warriors 75-54 in the first game of the tournament. Nebraska Christian will play against Waldorf at 6 p.m. for the consolation game.
