NEW ORLEANS - In addition to conference champion and most valuable athlete, Bethel University's
Dan Greeno (Sr., St. Michael, Minn.) can now add United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region Athlete of the Year to his list of accolades.
Greeno won his first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's cross country individual championship with a time of 25:21, as well as his first Central region championship last weekend with time of 24:49. Greeno, a senior, earned his fourth all-conference honor after winning the conference title by more than 30 seconds over the nearest competitor. He has been honored as an all-region runner the last two years and will be making his third consecutive national meet appearance. Other highlights from this season include a first place finish at the Brooks Invitational, hosted by UW-Oshkosh, and a first place finish at the Les Duke Invitational, hosted by Grinnell College in Iowa.
Greeno will join Bethel women's cross country athletes Marie Borner and Heather Jelen at the national championship meet, scheduled to take place this coming weekend in the Cleveland, Ohio, area.
