Bethel in Seventh Place After First Day of MIAC Championships

COON RAPIDS, Minn.
- After the first 18 holes of competition of the 2009 MIAC Championships, Bethel is in seventh place with a collective 318. The Royals currently hold a five stroke edge over Augsburg, and trail Concordia by seven strokes.

Last year's MIAC Freshman of the Year, Mason Swenson (So., Eagan, Minn.) posted the lowest round for Bethel with a three-over par 75 on the 6,857-yard Bunker Hills course. Swenson is tied for eighth place, while teammate Michael Yocum (Sr., Mora, Minn.) is just two strokes behind him in a tie for 16th place after his round of 77. Charlie Cook (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) and Reed Larson (Sr., Richfield, Minn.) round out Bethel's top four golfers as both of them shot an 83.

Play in the 54-hole tournament continues on Sunday, beginning at 11:28 a.m.
