RAMSEY, Minn. - As it turns out, last week's temperatures at the MIAC Championship were only a preview of things to come in terms of the sometimes turbulent relationship between golf and Minnesota weather. Yesterday's first round of the Twin Cities Classic golf tournament was called off due to weather, and tomorrow's round has also been canceled, making today the first, only, and final round of what was supposed to be a 54-hole tournament.
Bethel took to the Par 72 - 6,979 yard Links at North Fork course and shot a collective 298, their second best output of the season, to finish eighth out of 23 teams. Both
Michael Yocum (Sr., Mora, Minn.) and
Toby Robinson (So., Mankato, Minn.) finished with a two-over par score of 74 to finish in a tie for 20th out of 120 participants.
Charlie Cook (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) and
Mason Swenson (So., Eagan, Minn.) rounded out Bethel's top four, finishing just one stroke back at 75, which was good for a tie for 36th place.
The Royals' clubs will remain idle for the duration of the fall and winter until next April when they are scheduled for their next competition.
