ST. CLOUD, Minn.
- Bethel defenseman Steve Eastman (Sr., Edina, Minn.) scored a goal with nine seconds remaining in regulation to tie St. John's and force overtime at the National Hockey Center.  Neither the Johnnies nor the Royals were able to score in the overtime period, leaving the game a tie at 3-3.

Bethel pulled goalie Aaron Damjanovich (So., Remer, Minn.) with 45 seconds remaining to play with a man advantage, and it paid off.  Eastman's goal was assisted by fellow seniors Matt Hall (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Dan Bonne (White Bear Lake, Minn.).

The Royals scored first when Christian Fogerty (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.) scored his second goal in as many nights and his seventh of the season just six minutes into the game.

St. John's would go on to score the next three goals to go up 3-1.  It wasn't until late in the second period that Brad Peterson (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) scored his fifth goal of the season with the help of Jeff Balvin (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.), and John Kovacs (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) to pull Bethel within one goal.

Once again, the Royals were outshot nearly 2:1 by the Johnnies, 39-22.

Bethel comes away from their weekend series with St. John's having earned three points in the standings, which puts them in sole possession of second place in the MIAC heading into their holiday break.  The Royals are now 8-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.  St. John's is now 4-6-2 overall and 2-2-2 in MIAC play.  Bethel will travel to UW-Superior next Tuesday to play their last game of 2007.

Athletes of the Week
Taylor Ferda
Men's Track and Field
Taylor Ferda won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds and was the lead runner on the 4 x 400 meter relay team that set a new school record and earned an NCAA provisional time in the event. Two weeks earlier, Ferda earned an NCAA provisional time in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71 seconds. He along with several other Royals will next compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, this weekend.
Taylor Sheley
Women's Basketball
Taylor Sheley helped the Royals defeat St. Olaf last Saturday by scoring a career-high 22 points. A bulk of her points came off of three-pointers, where she was 5-for-6, on her way to an 8-for-10 shooting display from the floor. Sheley scored 47 total points last week and averaged nearly three rebounds per game as well. Bethel has a pair of big games this week, first against St. Thomas, then against Gustavus.
