BLAINE, Minn.
- A large crowd was on hand at Bethel University Arena to see the Royals win their third conference game in a row over the St. John's Johnnies 2-1.

Christian Fogerty (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.) scored his sixth goal of the season midway through the first period with the help of Don Hochbrunn (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn.) to put Bethel up 1-0.

Tom Menozzi (Fr., Lakeville, Minn.) added to Bethel's lead early in the second period by scoring his first collegiate goal with the help of older brother Bill Menozzi (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) and Steve Eastman (Sr., Edina, Minn.).

St. John's got on the board with 5:43 remaining in the second period when Jason Weigel scored a power play goal with the assists going to Jordan Swan and Joel Stacklie.

The Royals won despite being outshot by a 2:1 ratio, 36-18.  Aaron Damjanovich (So., Remer, Minn.) was able to save 35 of those shots, enabling Bethel to hang on for the victory.

Bethel is now 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC.  St. John's drops to 4-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.  The same two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

Athletes of the Week
Taylor Ferda
Men's Track and Field
Taylor Ferda won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds and was the lead runner on the 4 x 400 meter relay team that set a new school record and earned an NCAA provisional time in the event. Two weeks earlier, Ferda earned an NCAA provisional time in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.71 seconds. He along with several other Royals will next compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, this weekend.
Taylor Sheley
Women's Basketball
Taylor Sheley helped the Royals defeat St. Olaf last Saturday by scoring a career-high 22 points. A bulk of her points came off of three-pointers, where she was 5-for-6, on her way to an 8-for-10 shooting display from the floor. Sheley scored 47 total points last week and averaged nearly three rebounds per game as well. Bethel has a pair of big games this week, first against St. Thomas, then against Gustavus.
